| Even after you move out and are declared independent, it is best to fill out a FAFSA anytime you expect to take classes. This information will be sent to your school and allow them to offer you scholarships and grants to assist with school, without the FAFSA, you cannot receive any government aid or institutional grants. It never hurts to fill one out! |

| You have to be 23 in order for them to automatically call you independent in college for financial aide. You will still need to use your parents' information, even though they are not paying anything. Here's the link to the questions the other user talked about; FAFSA Dependency Statur Worksheet Also, check with the financial aid office at your school and talk to them about it. They are more up to date and more informational on things like this. |

There are some strict guidelines about how you'd qualify as an independent when filling out your FAFSA. Check the website and there's a list of 7 or so criteria and you have to meet at least one. I already moved away from home but I still had to use my parents' info. You still use your own info too.
do you have a link? |
