A friend of mine is leaving for college after this year... he wants to leave for college as soon as summer starts so he can get away from his family and everything that has happened around here. I told my mom and my sister and they said that colleges wont let you do that. I was wondering if anybody knew if there actually are any colleges that will let you do that.

Colleges don't care when you move, but you can't start classes before they start.

If you're talking about moving in to the dorms, or some other form of housing in which he has a contract and a start date, no, they will not let you move in before your contract has started. If your contract starts July 21, they will not let you move in on July 20 (well, some place do, like if you have to fly in or in other extreme circumstances but "I just want to move in early" doesn't cut it).
