So I went to get tested today and I felt like an ass because I didn't even know what I wanted to get tested for. She asked me if I wanted to get tested for HIV, then I'm like NONONONO. That's a bit too extreme. She asked me if I used protection and I told her yeah. So she said I should be o.k. and should only get tested if I felt like I should.

So I only got tested for gonorrhea and something else I think. But I felt like it was unnecessary and stupid for me to go when I used protection. Just paranoid I guess.

In all reality, even a "clean" test doesn't mean much, so if you're not having symptoms and if you don't feel like you put yourself at risk, then there really doesn't seem to be a need to get tested for every single thing possible. It's nice and all, and I feel more comfortable with partners who have been tested in the past, but it isn't really imperative in my eyes.

how exactly do they test you?

do they just draw blood from your arm and run tests on it, or is there something else?

i really have no idea.

Different procedures for different diseases. For the test I got, all I had to do was pee in a cup. I'm not sure how they do the others.

i would get tested for everything. i mean you might as well since you are already there.

That list was so long. And there are different procedures for testing different diseases. And some cost.

yes i know. but you are going to have to have it done eventually so why not then. but thats what i would do. if you feel that it wasn't needed then thats ok.

Its good to go and get tested every now and then, because most stds have no symptoms associated with them and people sometimes dont even know they have one. good job! lol
