"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people." Ephesians 5:3 (NIV)
If a hint, is anything that gets you closer to the answer (sex outside of marraige), than I think masturbation is a sin.
Anyway, since I don't want to do it, I have a bit of a problem. I'm masturbating in my sleep. I'm not talking about 'wet-dreams' or 'nocturnal emissions' where it just comes out, i'm actually masturbating in my sleep just like someone who walks or talks in their sleep.
I would actually love to have a wet dream, because then i would know that i didn't do it myself. I am always like halfway asleep halfway awake, where I know what I'm doing, but I can't do anything, I can't even say anything.
Any ideas of how to stop this?
may the God of peace be with you all, david

If you really read your Bible, you would know you cannot be held responsible for something you do not do willingly.
Pray about it and go work on other flaws.
I really feel sorry for you that you have permitted anyone or anything to control your mind. If the truth were known Jesus and all of his disciples masturbated. The Pope does as do all the priests. Rabbis masturbate. I assure you Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Billy Graham has masturbated. It's a natural function but yet you have this guilt that has been instilled in you. Feel guilt if you lie, cheat, steal, abuse or discriminate but don't feel guilt for something that is doing absolutely no harm to anyone. Open you eyes and enjoy every stroke and your life will open up and change for the better.

I'm sure all of those people you mentioned, with the exception of Jesus, masturbated.
I'm not allowing anything to control my mind, I am choosing to follow Jesus.
God never says in the verse you quoted that masturbation is a sin...I don't know, are you trying to read between the lines and put words into the verse that aren't there? Be careful with that one...don't play God, please.
I'm not trying to read between the lines, I believe that masturbation is included in 'sexual immorality' and most defiantly included in a 'hint of sexual immortality.'
now i think the whole"masturbating is a sin" thing is bullsh1t but if god controls our lives and destiny's then why is he letting you do this if he sees it as a sin. admit it, you like it, you want to do it more, and you think its a little dumb for that 2 be a sin...live a little, lol
Why would God control our lives? If we cannot choose to sin, then we cannot choose to love and our love for him wouldn't be real.
He created us, to be in fellowship with him. He dosn't want us to be mindless robots the love and worship him, he wants us to have genuine love, and for that to happen we have to have a choice to love and a choice to sin.
masturbation isnt a sin, sleeping with someones wife is a sin, rape is a sin, masturbation isnt a sexual sin,its called rubbing your cock or fingering your pussy it isnt sex sex is with another person so its not a sin you dumb mother fucker
"(27) "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' (28) But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:27-28
if it's a sin to even lust after a person...how do you think that's going to work for you when your whacking off?
I believe from the 'hint of sexual immorality' that it's a sin regardless of lust, but most people lust when they masturbate, so that makes it automatically a sin.
