| that is dependant on whose perspective the issue is in light of and whether it is under the premise that a supreme being (god exists) socially and from a populace ethical perspective it is considered wrong. meaning society believes its wrong and so does the popular belief. that makes it ethically wrong your morals should tell you its wrong because empathy is a basic human instinct. homicidal maniancs lack empathic skills so for them it is acceptable from a moral perspective from a theological perspective (in terms of god) it is wrong because he commanded man not to. you dont know the potential the individual had and god laid down a rule for you to observe therefore it is socially, ethically, morally (unless you are a homicidal psychopath) and theologically wrong to murder. |

| And by what moral authority are we judging the act of murder? |

| Killing is wrong in most, but not all, cases. Euthanasia, when there's no other alternative and the person is in horrible pain already, is a case where it would be right. However, your view of "SOME killing is not bad, therefore ALL killing MUST be good" is made of nothing other than FAIL. |

^ *facepalm* Yes, the whole reason why killing is bad is because of the EFFECTS. Just like the reason why stealing money is bad because of the EFFECT of the person you stole it from having lost what's rightfully theirs, or going to jail. Killing is wrong for the simple reason that the person who is killed WANTS to live, and that right is being taken away from him. Simple.
2 week old fetuses don't want to live and they can't but some people consider this 'killing' wrong (to die) also there are old people in pain want that want to die yet there are people who dont want to give them this right
Exactly. If the person wants to die, I personally believe it's their right, as long as the person who wishes to do so is in the right state of mind to choose. And also, I support abortion. So you didn't really prove anything there. |

I'm pretty sure there's a whole lot wrong with killing people. There are specific circumstances mentioned above, abortion where its not even a people or person and yeah that's fine, and euthanasia when a person is choosing to end their own life usually because of terminal illness and yeah assisted suicide is fine too in my opinion. So, these aren't really good examples to me. Other than that, rampantly killing people for no reason at all yeah I think that's kinda bad don't you? I don't personally feel comfortable taking anythings life (not that I'm a vegan or something). I just think that it goes against our own values as human beings. We place a higher value on human life because we are of the same species and we should only take human life in the most serious situations. We kill to protect ourselves or others, but beyond that it just doesn't sit right we me to kill another person. If we put a lesser value on human lives it would take away from our own superiority. As the only intelligent life forms we know of, we establish moral boundaries that are the only thing that separates us from the rest of the animals. God has nothing to do with it. Some of us don't believe in god. You don't see every atheist running around butchering people do you? Morality exists independently from god/religion and if america or the middle east is any indication it seems they have an inverse relationship.
i mean that killing in itself is not bad, it's the effects most of the time |

If that was true, I would have been dead a long time ago for disobeying this dictator you speak-of
Your stupid. He is saying people only think its wrong becasue god said so.
mcofdeath could be a killer on LW in jail now for all we know.in which case his statement would be valid. then again that would be unlikely. |

| God can kill whomever he wants for whatever reason he wants, that's because he's not allowed to be capable of sin. |

| Well, I suppose we see it as wrong, because we shouldn't be able to dictate over someone else's life, take someone's chance at life away like that. |
