Because if you don't believe in God, you don't believe in Jesus so according to the Bible since Jesus is the only into heaven, you don't get to go :\.

because heaven doesn't exist and neither does god

Oh I don't care, i just want to know what makes me different from any other caring person.

Because, apparently, you can be a horrible, disgusting, judgemental person, but as long as you believe in Jesus and confess your sins, you will get into heaven, but that wonderfully nice gay man down the street won't, because he's gay...

what a horrible, untrue charicature of the Christian faith.

Charicature? Not in my experience.

The vast majority of Christians I know - I would venture to say about 90% at least - are judgmental, closed-minded people who condemn anyone who doesn't think the way they do. They constantly use their energies to spread hatred against gay people, pro-choicers, other religions etc. etc. etc.

When I was 12 years old, I was attacked by "Christians" who told me that I was a horrible, disgusting person because I didn't go to church and they told my Hindi friend that she was "wrong" and that she was going to hell.

Not exactly a lovable bunch.

You have to accept the Trinity and whatnot and believe that Jesus is your savior and whatnot, and first of all, be christened...

exactly, praise the Lard went out and made that claim that God doesnt exist, so he has to back that up. I didnt make a claim either way, although I will shortly

wait are you saying that by saying that god doesn't exist i'm making a positive claim

I dont think positive means yes, there is. My understanding by positive in this case means confident or dictionary.com 12a "constructive and sure, rather than skeptical"

So you are making the confident claim that God doesnt exist, its your responsibility to show me why.

Do it, I dare you!

can you fucking read
my claim is skeptical, not positive.
sorry but the burden of proof is on you. i can't disprove the existence of god, but as i just pointed out, i can't disprove the existence of odin, ammon-ra, or zeus. that doesn't mean there's any reason justifying believe in them; there is simply no evidence suggesting their existence.

prove it- and before you say, no you prove that the do exist, the burden of proof is on you because you made that claim

why is heaven any likelier to exist than the eater of souls that the egyptians believed in

I'll get to that, but before I do, you didnt answer my quesiton. To prove that heaven doesnt exist, or God doesnt exist.
You just raised another possible theory

Not quite. The burden of proof is on he who makes the positive claim; ergo, while they can't claim 100% that God cannot exist (as absence of evidence is not evidence of absence), the burden of proof is on those who claim He does. Which is why I never get into the whole "lawl prove it" thing in theological or philosophical debates...it's just an exercise in futility.

Say, like me, that you believe there is this thing called "heaven". Then you will probably get to heaven.

Heaven, as I know it, is the acceptance of God. When you die, "supposedly", we'll see God face to face. Are you going to be retarded enough to be like... "bah, I still don't care. Whatever?"

Unless you do that, you'll go to Heaven. According to Catholic teachings, at least. I think. :/

Recently I've been going to classes to become Catholic and ...that's not what I got told.
I got told 1) no-one can know if they're going to heaven (to assume so is presumption, a sin, to assume you won't is despair, also a sin). 2) We (mankind) are bound by the sacraments (and in this case most importantly baptism, confession and last rites). 3) God is not bound by the sacraments, and is more merciful than any of us can probably seem. How that actually effects things is not known, but it makes it acceptable to hope that a lot more than just baptised people dying in a state of grace might make it. However it is not a guarantee of such things.

It's about you're relationship with God, you will never be good enough on your own steam.

It's not about what you do, but rather about Whom you know.
