They constantly use their energies to spread hatred against gay people, pro-choicers, other religions etc. etc. etc.   When I was 12 years old, I was attacked by "Christians" who told me that I was a horrible, disgusting person because I didn't go to church and they told my Hindi friend that she was "wrong" and that she was going to hell.   Not exactly a lovable bunch. According to Catholic teachings, at least. I think. :/ Recently I've been going to classes to become Catholic and ...that's not what I got told. I got told 1) no-one can know if they're going to heaven (to assume so is presumption, a sin, to assume you won't is despair, also a sin). 2) We (mankind) are bound by the sacraments (and in this case most importantly baptism, confession and last rites). 3) God is not bound by the sacraments, and is more merciful than any of us can probably seem. How that actually effects things is not known, but it makes it acceptable to hope that a lot more than just baptised people dying in a state of grace might make it.
