18+ you can buy it at smoke shops and gas stations.

Everyone would skip work to smoke and businesses will collapse in that one day alone

and the people who do show up to work high would be less productive and lazy as fuck

sure the smoke shops will be happy but will the millions thrown in jail for weed possession? If there released, we have a bunch of ex convicts running around debating whether they should sue the government for throwing them there in the first place or we can keep them inside and cause huge riots.

If were going to legalize weed, it's going to be a long and drawn out process, first all states will allow medical marijuana then the punishments would slowly drop..

and just for the record, I smoke weed.

Isn't it borderline legal to keep up to one ounce of marijuana in your house in Alaska?  I heard that once on some pro-weed site, but don't know if it's true or not yet wouldn't be surprised if it were.

people already smoke weed and go to work high, I know plenty.
rosebud Posted at 9:33 pm on Nov. 20, 2008
actually most people who would want to smoke it and have a job would most likely go to work and then do it afterwards, because they aren't totally irresponsible
tell me again Posted at 9:02 pm on Nov. 20, 2008
I'm hoping that the majority of weed users aren't gonna be such loserfucks. And actually make it an uneventful event.

The college kids will be causing chaos though. And perpetuating the age-long debate by acting like dumbshits.

The intact economy of Amsterdam begs to differ.

No. The Constitution very clearly forbids laws from acting retroactively; there is no debate or potential lawsuit. People are in jail for violating the law, not for having once done something that conflicts with current law; that is to say that the current legal status of cannabis is irrelevant to those with prior possession convictions. This is a universally accepted fact.

If were going to legalize weed, it's going to be a long and drawn out process, first all states will allow medical marijuana then the punishments would slowly drop..

Agreed. Right now the illegality of cannabis feeds into cultural disapproval of it, which in turn cements its illegality. For legalization to occur, there will have to be a large change in mainstream America's attitude towards it, which cannot occur overnight.

I would smoke weed weather it was legal or even if it had a life sentance with it. I like it, and NOTHING would change that. And to the genius who posted this topic... Man... You make us look bad... Think things through before you post them... The only way they would legalize it is if the relized no matter what people are going to do it, and its not bad for yo, it opens your mind... But they wont becuase they are a bunch of rich pricks who would sell their moms for a dollar(im talkin bout the govt. by the way). SO its not going to happen unless we get invaded by like... Holland or something like that... You are retarded...
I never said it was going to happen, I was just speculating

>>and the people who do show up to work high would be less productive and lazy as fuck<<

Just because weed is illegal now doesn't mean people don't already do this.. I know a TON of people who HAVE to get high before they go to work. Personally, I perform many tasks more efficiently/fluently when I'm high.

I have hypothesized that one's familiarity with THC can alter the detrimental effects on motor skills. This meaning that someone who has smoked marijuana for the first time will have a much harder time doing normal tasks as someone who is a routine smoker who acquires the same level of "intoxication." Many people learn to function as well if not better when high. For me, it slows down the peripheral random thought that usually occurs in my mind while I'm doing a task, allowing me to be more relaxed and focus more directly on the task at hand.

Half the fun of it is the fact that it's illegal
If we were allowed to do it, everyone would get bored of it after a while

Some would. Others do it because they enjoy it. Legalizing it would weed out (no pun intended) the idiot smokers because they only smoke because of the thrill they het

No, I think it's fun doing it... legal or not. It wouldn't change that much if it was legal...

That sure is some giant leap you made.

How do you come up with such bullshit like this?

sure the smoke shops will be happy but will the millions thrown in jail for weed possession? If there released, we have a bunch of ex convicts running around debating whether they should sue the government for throwing them there in the first place or we can keep them inside and cause huge riots.

They are going to sue the government for putting them in jail for doing something illegal? And then released them once it was made legal?? yea... cause that would sure as hell stand in court.

If were going to legalize weed, it's going to be a long and drawn out process, first all states will allow medical marijuana then the punishments would slowly drop..

Yes, but not for the bizzare reasons you stated.

and just for the record, I smoke weed.

Intelligent pot smokers hate you for it.
