i have this friend who has become an alcoholic ever since his girlfriend broke up with him. he doesn't want to quit per se, he just wants to be able to control it better. and he doesn't want to go to rehab. is there any way i can help him???

eh you can't really help, you as a friend can't tackle his alcoholism.
just i guess try to offer him alternatives to drinking? try getting him hooked on water

Alcoholics cannot 'control' their problem without giving up alcohol. The alcohol is in control of them, not the other way around.
