I want to write a book, except I'm terrible with settings. I need somewhere to put it. I though a small town, or maybe a large city where crimes go unnoticed. I just need a real town/city to put my story.

Two places that could both work are California and New York, though they are very opposite places, and I wouldn't like either one. And St. Louis as a specific city, just because it is hot and cold depending on the time of year, but I don't really want that either.
