what are meta tags?
Meta tags are important when it comes to publishing and getting the word about about your website on the internet.

They are not for the users, they are for the robots* sent out by search engines to crawl (scan) your site to register it in their datebase.

Some forum software, such as invision, offer a feature in the admin panel where you can add meta tags. Whereas other forum software doesn't.

In your broswer, click 'View' -> Page Source (or something like that). A screen pops up giving code of this page, at the top, you'll see the meta tags.

There's a meta tag generator on the addme.co site.

*Robot: An automated program that follows hyperlinks and accesses websites.

Link it onto any sites your on(livewire, myspace, etc.)
Then once it gets semi-popular you could pay to advertise.

It can take anything from 6 months to a year to get a forum really started. Unless you know of people who will register, spread the word and they have a genuine interest etc...

Register your forum at search engines. Maybe you can try http://www.addme.com and do a google search for "Free search engine submissions".

However, be sure to not submit your forum MULTIPLE times to search engines because you may be taken off their list.

If you can, add meta tags to your forum.

Put a link in your sig on forums to boost visitors.

Give your forum something to offer.

Maybe have a customised skin instead of the default.

Some admins also register and post on a few accounts to make it seem like there are active members; no one likes registering at an empty and inactive forum.

Well, good luck!

i would spam around and advertise but on most forums those arent allowed. and i dont really wanna bad reputation.
is it allowed here? (not the spamming but making a thread on it)
megadeth Posted at 7:47 pm on Jan. 14, 2007
you could ask around for members here.

Get all your friends to join, and they'll get their friends, and so on. Go to other music forums and find people with a similar taste and tell them to join.
