I'm running avast scanning a folder with some downloads but I doubt that's it (or maybe it is..) and mozilla, 2 tabs..

I have an Intel core 2 quad overclocked to I don't know.

I have a cheap tower with few fans, I took off the side panel and blow a fan right into it..

I'm usually ranging at around 50-55
but I'm currently at like 60-70

I hear 65 is bad?

I'm new on the whole gaming rig hardware computer thing so bare with me

Wow. I'm idling at 35~38. And I have a shuttle.

Make sure you have a few fans blowing out of the tower, or you'll get a pressure cooker. Clean out your case, remove dust.

get one of those water pump cooler things....cant remember what they're called though.

Those are a pain in the ass to install and maintain (I know this from experience).

some models are really easy to install

Yes, smashing a plate that runs liquid through it against your processor is something that every user can do.

Not to mention running hose, finding a place for your pump and radiator, keeping the system at the optimal water level.

Sure sounds really easy to me.

my uncle (the one who built my compy) has done watercooling before

You're fine. My overclock gets meat 40 - 50 idle and 50-65 load. If you want a cheap way to pull the temps down get yourself a "Arctic freezer 7 pro". Big improvement over stock cooler but doesn't hurt your pockets.

Get a CPU heatsink, you probably have the stock one on your cpu, the only thing is they might not fit in your crappy case
Zlog Posted at 12:33 am on Aug. 25, 2008
Those are silly ideas.

You need to put the side of the computer back on first off. PC Cases are designed to channel air through the case. Having the side off messes that up.

Your CPU temperature seems a touch high, but its ok if that was the temp during a scan. I would ask your uncle though to check everything for you, and maybe have him back the overclock down a bit. Overclocking is a really terrible idea if YOU (the owner) don't know how to watch it and your hardware's health.

Open your case and let some ventilation in.

Unless you have a big box fan blowing into your computer, the fan isn't doing much good.

Reduce the clock rate so you don't burn your boards. Or get a better cooling system.

My uncle over clocked it, so I really don't know how to do it or what it's at.

avast finished(nothing found woohoo) and it droped to around 56.. but that still seems kinda high..

I plan on buying a better (fancier) case in the future with a lot more fans

65 isn't bad

my CPU is always at around 61.. well it is atm.. and i've hardly had it on long..

and its in the blue so that means its fine..

my nvidia monitor says that it will alert me when my CPU gets to 127 Celsius

so i take it thats a bad temperature..

i would imagine anything under 70 is ok
