Errr yeah so my laptop randomly crashed today/tonight/whatever odd time of day it is right now....

Baiscally I can restart it, and it reboots and everything. Then it goes to a screen where it says "Configuring Updates: 3 out of 3..." and then instead of letting me go sign in once those updates are finished, it just restarts again.

It has literally been doing that from 1 am to 6 am, so I know it cant possibly still be installing.

If anyone has ideas, share. Please.
I have windows vista if that makes a difference

In other news...why the hell arent I sleeping right nowwwwwwww ahhhhh

You people are not helpful at all.

Erm but if anyone ever runs into this again I finally figured it out.

Manually restart.  As soon as it turns on, keep hitting F8 until you get to the advanced boot menu.  Select "Repair System".  Let it search for problems.  When it asks you if you want to restore, hit "cancel" because that will just load you to the messed up update.

After cancel, go to the advanced menu and manually select a restore point from farther back.  Let it restore.  Restart.
That gets you back to windows.  Then download the update "KB937287" so it doesnt happen again.

blah

have you tried to see if safe mode works?

i've searched on google and it's saying all this confusing stuff

are you installing SP1 or isit just a normal update?

This is what I found...
here

It basically describes what is going on.

The thing is though, I can't get past the "Configuring Updates" page to do anything.

I need to figure out how to override that and get into my stuff.
