Ok, a few months ago I bought a Lexmark printer/copyer/scanner. Well, the printer works just fine, I just can't figure out how to work the copyer and scanner. Everytime I click "acquire" for the photo is says "Error in getting TWAIN data source, check if the device is properly connected to your computer, or select the device from the select data source drop-down list". I'm using Photo Explosion to to get the photo but nothing is happening.
There is a menu to the left where you can check off "Apply post-processing, Enable slicing, and Show TWAIN data source". I have tried clicking all of them on and off in variouse combinations but still nothing works. When I undo all of them it says something "your computer does not support direct scan, please check TWAIN data source and try again" well I did this but the first message about error getting the TWAIN data source appears again. From what I can tell, the device is plugged in and everything, can someone please help...

This is assuming you are using Windows as your OpSys.

Try "Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager"..... Is a scanner in that list anywhere?

If it is, check it for drivers and for being enabled.

If it isn't, back out of that and go to "Install hardware" and follow the instructions there.

I have installed every cd for the thing... I'm wondering though if I need to go out and buy some special software for my computer to help the thing work?

Did it come with an installation cd? There may be some drivers you haven't installed for the scanner.
