So, my computer seemed to be running perfectly fine a few nights ago. The next morning I go to turn it on, (which I don't recall shutting it down that night), and it's saying "error ... press Alt+Ctrl+delete if its your first time seeing this screen". I do so, and it comes up again and saying something about a file from system 32 on the C: Drive is missing. And so, my computer won't run.
What should I do?

If you cannot find the CDs which came with the computer, to be more specific the Windows XP CD, you will need to take it to someone to have the Windows either reinstalled or repaired.

It may be possible to restore the missing System 32 file without reinstalling the Operating System. Re-installing the OS will make you lose all of your data so if there is something on your computer that you need, you should avoid reinstalling the OS, but try repairing it, if all fails you may need to reinstall the OS.

Thank you thank you.
I don't care if I loose anything on it, nothing is really important.  I can't find the CD, but can I buy the CD at a store? Like Fry's or best buy or something?

turn your computer on, hit the f8 key several times. it should give you choices.

there should be one that says, go back to most recent settings that worked

I had the same problem before with a laptop. If system 32 has an error, then there is nothing you can do unfortunately, except get it repaired at a computer store. However, if you still have the CDs that came with the computer, I think that one of them might have a backup of it. If not, all you can do is send it away, or call a computer repair guy.

Okay. Thanks. I'm looking for the disks that came with it.   I hope that works.

try booting in safe mode, loading the drivers 1 at a time. sounds like the start up sequence got corrupted. you might have to roll back to a different date.

what operating system are you using?

I don't know how to start in safe mode.
I'm using windows XP.
