But thats just it. My cheapo laptop works ok for me. No viruses, it works quickly enough... and for my uses for it, its good. I just want a Mac cus look its cool.
Im going to college and Im thinking of whether I should stay loyal to my laptop or get a new Macbook.
So what do you all think? What can a Macbook do for me that Windows cant?
O and this is anon because I dont like being patronised like I was last time I asked something
I will admit you don't have to think about viruses etc anywhere near as much (if at all) as others have pointed out. This may or may not change any time soon. Although if your happy with your Windows set-up (personally i have never had a virus issue) then why change.
Stick with your laptop if you don't need to upgrade and look at new Windows based systems and macs if you do need to upgrade. Getting your money's worth is better then getting something that looks cool in my book.

Idk, they're just awesome and convenient. Because you can make movies on imovie, make and record songs on garage band, and take sweet pictures on photobooth. macs can get viruses, just as easily as windows machines can....the difference is nobody would write a virus to infect 10 people when they can write one to infect 10,000. I've had a mac for years and I've never had a virus once .. ? That doesnt mean they dont exist. Safari in particular has several exploits. And as it was said, who is going to waste their time targeting a smaller market share? The whole point of a virus is to get it to spread to as many people as possible. If you are targeting a smaller group of people, its not going to spread nearly as well. Though it is correct that part of the reason the macitosh has less viruses is due to it's low user base, it also has a unix opperating system, which is much harder to write a virus for.

Actually, most devs find writing for unix based OSs easier.
However, a majority of devs are used to writing for Windows NT based platforms.
Besides, exploiting doesnt really involve writing a program, rather it involves writing for the kernal of a system, and since Unix systems are EXTREMELY (pretty much entirely) based on command systems, it allows alot more room for exploits.
it can..
there just isn't as many viruses for Macs.. at this moment,,
People who have macs and claim they got tons of viruses and computer crashes on windows didn't protect their system properly. Opinions.
Opinions.
You should make that a new thread but Im gonna say YES to that.
Cus like the only time Windows has ever been shitty with me was because I didnt do virus checks and I was just generally being careless with it.
My laptop crashed just once and it was because I was messing with the registry. Other than that my lap has been good to me. I dunno why people complain about Windows so much.

I didn't say it was better. It's just different.
