Not necessarily, mainly because your not just paying for the system but the OS as well.  I do agree hardware updates are a complete rip-off but if your not afraid to void warranty just do hardware upgrades yourself.

I've never bought an operating system... Why do Mac users think PC = Windows?

Macs have different purposes which is right.. i will pay extra for a mac because i know they will last forever... when u buy a pc they are accidents waiting to happen

To each is their own. Both Macs and PC's have different purposes and even though they're on the same market they're aimed to different people.

So even though you can place a price on an object, your paying for what it's worth and it's capabilities. PC's do last if your smart, granted your using Windows. But if your unintelligent and have no idea what the fuck your doing you can screw it up, yeah you can do the same with a Mac, but just like anything you have to take care of it.

Pretty much, I like both platforms and show NO favoritism to either system. Just depends what I'm doing. Pretty much I just use my Mac, even though I'm a gamer. I'm content with my hardware, and I have no need to upgrade it since it has the capabilities to run fine. It's not like I'm playing Crysis and need SLI 8800gts or Corssfire for ATI.

There's my view on the topic.

Macs are good, minus the fact a PC is better.
