I'm on average 110-120 wpm when regular typing.

However, I do have my 150 WPM certificate (that's 100% accuracy.)

I am trying to teach myself the Dvorak layout.  These speeds would be slow compared to someone who has been on the Dvorak layout as long as they have been on the qwerty layout.

145 was my record (I memorized the paragraph and practiced for class one day :P )

But I'm usually around 90 or so.

I type about 40 wpm.

In actual practice, far far far far less.  Unless your a transcriber or a dictationist, who cares..

In my line of work, if you can code at 80 wpm, you are a genious..  Personally, me coding is more like 10-15wpm mean value over a 8 hour period. (if I'm lucky)
--edit
I went to that typing test, and I got a mean of 67wpm, with 10 errors.

I guess that's better than 40

For me it all depends on the test I take. Thing is, I'm way faster when I'm typing stuff off the top of my head, rather than copying text that is on the screen. I make a lot more mistakes when I'm trying to quickly copy text as well.

On some tests I get around 90-100. On others I get between 60-75. And my accuracy varies anywhere between 85% and 100% depending on the text.

about 2 months ago i sucked beyond belief but after two online stories a couple of forums and AIM i am now typing at about 55 WMP neeto huh?

Just need to find the 'shift' key for more than acronyms now eh?

pcman312 Posted at 7:13 pm on July 17, 2004
I tend to average probably between 60-80, although the highest I've ever tested myself at was 88 wpm (I've got a screenshot of it :D).  It comes from years of doing stuff on the computer and from chatting online a lot in the past year or so.  Heck when I type now I feel slow because I'm so use to it, then I start chatting with someone and their like "hold crap! you type fast!"
