Doesn anybody know what OS the LW servers run on?  If its Linux, what disrtobution?  If windows, what version?  Something just piqued my intrest about this...

It's very easy to fake that, in fact faking banners is quite common as it throws hackers off. also, it is quite common for apache to be mistaken for windows by lots of tools The way the tool sriehl used works is that it looks for distinctive ways in which different operating systems handle TCP/IP. The results from that are generally a lot more reliable than what a server says it's running, and a lot harder to spoof. For the record, a test here with a old version of that tool gives "Linux 2.4.X" as the os.
