For graduation my mom is getting me a laptop.

I've always wanted a macbook but i heard alot of bad things about them :\ i heard they don't hold internet connection, you cant view some websites, AIM doesnt work on it.

I have a dell desktop right now and i do not want another dell. I heard acer was a good laptop brand.

Which one!

I had an Acer, an old Pentium 3..about 4 years ago, it was nice little laptop, solid, and quiet. Only trouble it gave me was the CD-RW drive went out, 40$ fix, and thats it. I had it since it was new, in 1998.

Go for Acer, but if you want to spend a little bit more.. an Apple is worth it... Cause Vista sucks! xD

Go for an acer, dell have to many technical issues.

I disagree with the Acer.  I had one for about a hear.  Worked fine for about 9 months.  Then, within 3 months of each other, the hard drive, battery, and motherboard all failed.  Had to replace the thing.  It was disaster.

Now, I've got a decent Gateway laptop, and I really like it. No problems, durable, its pretty fast (except i recommend XP instead of Vista, Vista's a bit slow on this box).

Of course macbooks can hold internet connections, who on earth told you that?

my friend owns a macbook, the tiger? version. She said hers never holds connection and she can't leave AIM up with an away message. She said she had to switch to Adium
