| If you are using Windows I recommend switching to Paint.NET (free), far easier to figure out (proper labels). |

| You can download Photo Shop 7 for free because it doesn't require online activation like the newer versions. |

| When you open the picture in GIMP there should be a separate bar with various tools like paint would have. The window the picture is located in has a task bar where you can perform various functions. The tools have various options for each. The top has functions that you use to edit the entire picture. Such as color balance, hue saturation, scale image, and many others. |
