I received a text message from someone whose number is, to me, long distance. The number I received thus included the "1" which precedes the rest of the number in such a case. I replied, but omitted the "1" from the number, simply entering it as it would be locally. I have yet to receive a response, which is highly unusual. Is it possible they did not receive my reply because I failed to include the "1"?

It is possible. "1" is the designated country code for U.S. and Canada. So it is possible someone else received it or that it went no where.

Maybe?

just resend it using the 1, it won't be weird or anything. they'll just think you're impatient and sent it twice because it was going slow
