What you will need: Ethernet Cable Laptop Router Steps: 1.Plug the Ethernet Cable into your laptop and the other end into the Router 2.Click start connect to 3.Select your Router 4.It will ask for a WEP key or some kind of code this can be founf on your router 5.Click continue/finish 6.Wait until you get the notice Connected to ROUTERNAME 7.Unplug the Ethernet Cable 8.Open up your internet and hopefully you will be connected ANY PROBLEMS OR ANYTHING USING MY GUIDE LEAVE A REPLY OR MESSAGE ME.
uhh wronggg. well, right. but, wrongg. too many steps. if your router is up, and broadcasting an ssid(and you can have encryption enabled!), you can just scan for wireless networks. why connect the computer to the router? hate to break it to you, but ethernet and wireless have different mac addresses. so they have different ips. run ipconfig /all. you'll see. loool. you only connect your computer by ethernet to configure the router. and when yer wireless ain't workin after powercycling yer router/modem, just reset the router to default settings (by sticking pencil in back ((on most routers))). sure, you'll have to connect your laptop back up to it to reconfigure it with an ethernet cable, BUT, apparently you don't even need to seeing as how according to you, the router magically generates a WEP key. or any form of encryption.
Most routers do have WEP keys. |
