My brother has a computer that came with vista on it... he doesn't really use it much, and only had a few major issues with the computer itself, which we don't know if it had anything to do with the operating system (they just replaced the computer twice because they couldn't fix it, but wouldn't tell us what was wrong either).
He claims, since hearing that there is a new windows out, he hates vista.

would it be beneficial to upgrade?  i mean, he doesn't have any issues yet, but he is going to have this computer for a while.   that being said, opinions?

WTF. I get a brand new computer for Christmas and NOW they're coming out with a new os? This pisses me off...

I would suggest waiting to hear reviews from people who actually use it once it's out before upgrading.

you can upgrade your OS....

I know, but college student = usually broke.

torrentz lol

haha, true. I've just started downloading torrents, I'm still a little iffy about them. For some reason I'm scared of downloading the big files    lol

Windows 7 is based off the same kernal as vista... It's claimed it is what vista was always meant to be. I've dabbled with it and it is a nice upgrade. Anyone who wishes to have a go can download the public beta from microsoft

The links are in this thread here

i would post them individually but i cannot be arsed to shorten the URLs

lol what a noob, the Windows 7 beta isn't *that* different from Vista, at least not enough that it could make you hate Vista.

Windows 7 isn't out yet, so it's probably not a good idea to upgrade unless you want to hassle with bugs and whatnot. It is a beta version so you can easily run into problems and tbh if it's working fine at the moment, I wouldn't bother with it.

exactly. everything ive seen... it looks exactly like vista

same, because isn't it just vista, but fixed?  things that wouldn't really change appearance...

that's what i heard, just small fixes... but he's insisting that he HATES vista...  yet he has no reason why...

and i wouldn't tell him to get it yet, but this discussion between me and him just came up today, so i figured before i forgot, i'd ask here, hoping maybe someone would have an opinion .

Windows 7 is beta, It's not stable enough to be a primary OS yet, hence the "beta"

I know that, but i mean, when it is available...

Wait until it's out first perhaps and then read reviews on it.

That's like asking should we buy car X when it hasn't been released yet.

Just stick with Vista. I haven't had any problems with it yet.
