Hey Livewire.. I have a problem..

I recently restored my laptop with a recovery DVD, because it was all fucked up, but I didn't bother backing up 'cos I couldn't be bothered and didn't really mind if I lost all the stuff that was one here, and I reinstalled all the Drivers and shit.

My problem is that now, whenever I plug my iPod into iTunes (which I have copied all of my music back onto), iTunes just freezes up and stops responding..

It's fucking irritating and I can't sync my iPod or anything. It just freezes. But JUST the iTunes window, not the rest of the computer.. I end up having to go to Task Manager and close it from there.

Anybody else have this problem, or have any suggestions?

Sorry for the long post, But any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Make sure you have all your drivers installed. To do this, Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager. The Device Manager opens and will show question marks by anything you don't have drivers for. You'll just have to search around the internet for drivers if you don't have them installed...

I think you're having RAM related issues when your iTunes detects an insynchronization but unable to process it because you don't have enough RAM to take you to the next step.

Enable your iTunes so that it doesn't automate the drivers for iPod detection as soon as you plug in the iPod. Now go into 'My Computer' and try opening up the drive where the iPod is located. Make sure you have it so that all hidden files are enabled for you to see.

You can do this by going into Tools -> Options -> Folder Options -> 'Enable view of hidden items' or something like that. Click that then press apply.

Now go back to this drive and drag and drop the entire 'Music' folder from your iPod onto our desktop. This should copy all your music onto your computer. Now open iTunes, go into Options and find the place where iTunes organizes all music by itself. It's under 'Preferances' -> 'Advanced' tab. Now add this folder and iTunes should now be able to copy all your old music into your iTunes.

Now reformat your iPod in some way, either by using your charger or by doing it on a different computer. And now this time when you plug in the iPod into your own computer's iTunes, everything should technically sync well and shouldn't freeze up.

Let me know if this works because I'm curious as well.

Maybe install itunes and reinstall it again, or update it.
Yes, try reinstalling iTunes. That clears up problems a lot. Also you can try restoring your iPod.

Oh maybe..

Uum.. but the iPod doesn't appear in the source panel on iTunes as it just freezes up, so how can I restore my iPod without using iTunes?
