here's my situation:

system security 2009 downloaded itself and it's obviously not legit but i can't seem to remove it. i can't even run my computer in normal mode. oh and i don't have like 100 dollars buy spyware removal. i just used windows defender scanner and it says my computer is running normally and other scanners can't find it. i guess it's completely hidden somehow because it's preventing me from using programs in normal mode. help me.

You're lucky. I had to wipe my girlfriend's machine yesterday cos she had it - it restricted the execution of files so I couldn't install/run antivirus, get to a command line or regedit. :/

you can use free spyware like spybot or terminator software it would search and destroy malwares found on your computer.

Its guaranteed

you need to use and download malwarebytes
 and run a quick search

I had the same thing, this is the only thing that resolved it.

does it actually remove the threats or just scan for them?
