why not call a black hat evil they use their skills to do bad things
Because most just crack in, just to show they can. Many don't use their abilities for what i would term "evil", some i agree, they are hardcore and literally make a living off of cracking, but others are sport crackers and what not. |

Good description of all the tech terms. Though i wouldn't call black hats "evil" they do what they do, usually for skill purposes, bragging rights as well. One thing to keep in mind, it is very rare that any of us would be in danger of a black hat, they go after big fishes. The only thing to be wary is if they use your computer as a proxy. But, if you have a firewall, you can usually stop it, in this case software firewall. Again, viruses are created by people, they exploit code in basic programs. This is why it is important to update your software.

a "black hat" is basically the term given to an evil skilled hacker while a white hat is also a skilled hacker they use their skills to find flaws in systems and report them to the companies... basically they hack the people they are working for. the amount of damage someone can do depends on their skill like if i wanted to i could make an aim virus that would send a random message to people and you would have no controll over it on the other had a "black hat" hacker could crash your system steal any information they wanted change ur passwords and use your computer to broadcast their signal to anyone. a virus is simply made with code like you would make a website except a little more tricky basically if you know dos well enough u can hack anyone. Script Kiddies = Nub Hacker ones that think they are good because they know the dos command to reformat a hard drive. White Hat = Security Analyst basically Black Hat = Evil Skilled Hacker Worm = program that wesles its self in and can disable some things Trojan = program that piggy backs in on another program and then can either work liek a worm or broad cast information (some what like spyware) Spyware = program used to record and send out information about you from the websites you go to and then targets pop ups at you Hijacker = Basically a program that takes over your homepage or search engine. forces you to use their program like spyware.

Script Kiddies are bored to death. The ones you have to be careful of are Black Hats, and no matter what protection you have, if a Black Hat wants in, they will get in. The only thing you can do is make sure you have a back up, or don't have your main system hooked up to the internet, unless closely observed.

Agreed. Not only that they are a waste of time, and only done by crackers who usually have some serious social issues.
