who here thinks we should create a virus, that searches a person's computer for firefox, and if it's not detected, uninstalls IE and install's firefox in it's place?

Stupid idea is stupid, and illegal.
anonomouse Posted at 12:36 am on June 21, 2008
That would be funny, but there are three problems:

1. That's illegal
2. It's not very nice to developers (some people have pretty good firewalls/antivirus programs so they would still run IE)
3. You can't completely remove IE because it is so integrated with Windows. Try it. Then, go into explorer and type an internet address in the address bar.

It's my brother who's tried, I'll ask him to do what you said next time, maybe he wasn't right, or mislead. I personally have no clue, but I find it annoying, and now, I can't even open it, yet it will open pop-ups o.k.
nikki Posted at 12:38 pm on June 3, 2008
That's weird then. I always thought that was the solution there. Will it just not work at all or what?

Ah, such as shame that I couldn't delete that viris/pop up annoyance. But, you need IE to have Hotmail. :@

  wtf? you do????
  fuck hotmail...
  get gmail. it's better

You don't need IE. I can get into my hotmail account from Linux, which most definitely does not have IE. It works with Firefox or Opera.

Then mine must be a bit screwey, we dug far into it, and then msn didn't work without it. Ask SilverDoor tho, he is the one that did it for me.

You need IE for MSN, but you don't need it for hotmail. Get Live Messenger.

That's what I have :(

Can't We All Just Get Along?
warcrack Posted at 5:42 am on May 30, 2008
It would NEVER happen, solely for the fact IE is integrated into explorer. You can't take out a section of a GUI and expect it to be fine and dandy.

So, OP your flawed. Know how software works and how it is written.

Also, if by the slightest chance you can write something to disable IE, it would be a script not a virus kiddie. Know your shit.

It's basically like taking out a support beam, after it's gone the structure won't contain itself. Nor do I like IE, but still your flawed.

Shell Shocked Posted at 5:18 pm on May 19, 2008
I agree.
That would be the coolest/usefulest virus ever invented, it would be cool if it installed it with all the add-ons to. ^^
Syber Posted at 12:22 am on May 18, 2008
Yea...no....Dumb Idea, IE is fine...We know you like your pretty care free Firefox but w/e still has flaws....so Pfft

No (Firefox user)

Just because it's made by Microsoft, doesn't mean it's the goddamned devil. I'm not sure which is worse, anti-Microsoft goons, or rabid Firefox/OSS "supporters".

Skifox Posted at 2:08 pm on May 4, 2008
Firefox ftw, seriously
Rhapsody Posted at 4:52 pm on May 2, 2008
Although I am a fan of firefox I am not a fan of shoving my beliefs down the throats of others, especially those who don't want them. To force FF on someone is wrong. Also some sites require you to use IE and at school it is better for me to use IE than FF, the damn firewall there is a bitch.

Install FF yes, Uninstall IE no.
