i suppose wma compresses it further though?
It compresses the file 3 times more.

Windows Media Audio (.wma)

Windows Media Audio (.wma) was developed to compete with the MP3 format for Windows Media Player. Microsoft claims that the WMA files are compressed three times more than MP3s yet retain their original sound quality.

There are online programs that will convert them without having to downlaod anything.

But it's much faster and easier to do if you download the program as mentioned abive (Media Converter SA Edition).

Download a converter program. If you're into piracy, download the torrent and CD cracker. If you aren't, prepare to pay at lease 30 bucks.

You can't.  You'll need to go online and download a converter.

(Media Converter SA Edition is a good choice.)
