And by good, I don't mean someone who doesn't know anything about computers and assumes that good means that it works. I mean it's above average and can handle gaming.

They easily beat Dell's inspiron series, and even some of their mid-ranged PC's at around $600. DELL SUCKS! Toshiba and Gateway also have some very good models in that price range. I just conducted a half a year laptop search, so if you sent me the names of some stores you shop in, I'd be glad to help you out.
