At least now I have an excuse to upgrade from a 256mb 8600GT to at least an 8800-series. It is not a monitor problem because I am using it as a secondary display for my netbook.

The problem was/is with my mid-ATX tower.  Was actually looking for an excuse to get at least an 8800, but didn't quite have any compelling reason to spend money on it, until now.
