The good folks at Motor Trend recently tested a regular cab Toyota Tundra outfitted with Toyota Racing Development's new 5.7-liter V-8 supercharger plus a few other TRD-supplied tweaks. The result? A blistering fast 0 to 60 mph time of only 4.4 seconds! That makes this truck the fastest pickup on the planet with factory approved, and warrantied, kit. It's faster than the 2004-06 Dodge Ram SRT-10 (0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds), 1991-92 GMC Syclone (0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds) and 2007-08 Holden HSV Maloo Ute (0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds).
The Tundra's TRD compressor is an Eaton Twin Vortices System roots-type supercharger, which uses the newest four-lobe, high-helix rotors, like the ZR-1 Corvette. A water-to-air intercooler system with a low-temp radiator is part of the setup. Included are high-flow fuel injectors, iridium spark plugs, a higher-flow fuel pump and a TRD-designed performance air-intake system. Boost pressure is 8.5 psi at maximum demand.
The system provides a significant increase in horsepower and torque. Stock output — 381 horsepower and 401 pounds-feet of torque — improves to 504 hp at 5,500 rpm and 550 pounds-feet of torque.
We drove the same Tundra several months ago on the drag strip at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, Calif. We didn't measure our 0 to 60 mph score but we did record our time and speed in the 1/8-mile sprint at 9.07 seconds at 81.16 mph.
Could we hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds? We don't know but we'd sure love to try.
The Tundra has about 100HP more then the F-150, and yet, its payload AND max towing are over 1,000lbs LESS than the F-150 with its smaller engine. Also, I've never heard of F-150s having such fucked up problems as warped tail gates, cab/bed rubbing, etc.
Another point is how week those trucks are in build quality, I can't imagine those speeds and that power are helping its life. Finally the F-150 has some competition. That said, I'll still take the Raptor. Its a performance truck that has a fuckin purpose.

I'm sure they really aren't that weak...
I'd rather have this than the Raptor. Off-roading isn't that great...
Yay, Can't wait for them to release a Hybrid/I4 Supercharger ;D
...I posted it here because it was interesting and I figured they'd be interested.
So, what about the Ford Lightning? I guess it's too slow to be included in the list? 'Twould strike me as a somewhat decent competitor. But I'm really amazed to see it beat the Ram SRT-10.
Yay Toyota. It's a good day to be a Camry driver :-p.
