Incase anyone was wondering. I pretty much go against every political decision Sarah Palin makes. She's just not ready to be Vice President, and think if McCain dies, she will be president of probably the most important country in the world.
GG.
Scary.
No amount of mental gymnastics and cognitive dissonance can make Sarah Palin any less of a joke pick. Just for laughs here's a picture of Wasilia's City Hall.

and this coming from someone who is picking obama.
Senators deal with a wider range of issues than Governors and on a broader scale. I would still argue that population does come into play, I don't see how it couldn't. If Palin took part in more national or international issues, then I'd take her more seriously. Obama doesn't have the best experience but he strikes me as a natural leader while Palin doesn't. She's more of the pretty face with no content besides her ridiculous views.
senators don't deal with a wider range of issues, i don't know where you came up with that idea but the opposite is true. governors deal with many more issues than senators. anyway, i think obama appears to be a natural leader, and may very well be, just like palin, but neither have be tested enough to know for sure how they will respond under pressure. at least palin is only running for vp. and since you don't know anything about palin other then what she looks like and the crazy rumors that people like to circulate, i suggest reading up on her record as governor and see some of the things she did for alaska, like getting rid of their deficit, etc, then you will actually know what you are talking about, and will probably also know why palin was selected for vp. it's no surprise that you don't see her as having any content when you don't know anything about her.
Quote: from football at 5:04 am on Sep. 9, 2008 but either way, the point isn't the amount of people your decisions effect, it's the magnitude of your responsibilities. Except that magnitude is based on the amount of people said decisions affect. That's why the magnitude of decisions made by the U.S. President is far greater than that of the President of the Swiss Confederation, even though their job titles are - by your logic - exactly the same. a governor, like a president, has to make decisions completely by themselves, and take full responsibility for the results of their decisions. Yes, but as we've now established the magnitude of decisions faced by a governor of a very sparsly populated state are really not that impressive when it comes down to it.

and yet a senators vote in congress carries a magnitude greater than a governor's? another thing you have to realize is that senators aren't even required to make a decision. just look at mccain and obama's records, they chose not to vote close to 50% of the time. that makes their jobs way less complicated, can't make up your mind on an issue? just don't decide. however both governors and presidents aren't afforded that luxury, both are in a position where they are given decisions to make, and they have to make them, whether they feel comfortable with them or not. and once again, it is that person alone who makes the decision and suffers the consequences. it is way easier to make decisions when you are just one part of a large panel than when you are forced to decide on your own. therefore, the magnitude of the decisions that ALL governors make is greater than ANY senator from any state, regardless of population.
Being a governor is a local thing, while the Senator is a federal thing. A comparison for a college ball legislative position would be your state assembly.
i would argue that "local" means within your city, not the entire state. but either way, the point isn't the amount of people your decisions effect, it's the magnitude of your responsibilities. a governor, like a president, has to make decisions completely by themselves, and take full responsibility for the results of their decisions. a senator, however, only has to express his/her opinion in the for of a vote, and if it goes bad, there was at least a two thirds majority of congress that sinks with them. so to me it is less like being the president than a governor is, even if congress effects a larger population.
It would be better to say NFL and not college football would be a better analogy for US senate to US President.
i sort of agree and sort of don't. because saying that governor is a college sport and senator is a professional sport suggests that being a governor is lesser than being a senator, which if anything is the opposite. i think that being president is a step above both governors and senators, which makes it a professional sport in this analogy while both governors and senators are college sports. make sense?
No one has experience as president besides Bush and Bill Clinton to name some of the very few. Hillary is probably the closest to experience since her housband was President. Being Governer is kinda close but thats like saying someone who plays college basketball is ready for the NBA but no its a huge step and your still a rookie upon entering. I dont really like either canadiate, Obama is alright, Macain is ok. Palin though something about her irritates me, I think it is how no one knew she exsisted and now shes coming out like shes the senior on campus and its only because shes got Macain behind her, without that she would remain the nothing she is.
you are right. in fact, i really like the analogy that going from being governor to the presidency is like going from college basketball to the NBA. but another good analogy is that going from the senate to the presidency is like going from college football to the NBA. they are both sports, and are therefore related, but since they operate in completely different ways the experience doesn't translate very well. But in general both basketball and football take athletic ability, so in playing college football someone can show you their athletic ability and give you some idea of how they might perform in the NBA, but playing college basketball is will for sure give you a better picture. and you're also right, all first time presidents are "rookies" no matter where they come from. also, isn't it a good thing that sarah palin is a "nobody"? all that means is that we will have a real person in office who hasn't been corrupted by big time politics for years. i would much prefer have a person who has actually lived in the real world for vice president than someone who has been groomed and raised to convince you to vote for them.
