why would you want to???

Because your inbox becomes, often times, overrun by people who ask you the most ridiculous things, looking for advice, simply because they see you are a support leader.
Or you get flooded with replies to your actions, like hiding or moving posts, and insulted, bitched at, etc, because you're treated as if you're taking away their points because people are fucking stupid and illiterate assholes.
It tends to get old, and I help just as many people without my status as an SL as I do with it.

I only got it to become a mod after being asked to become one, and that's why I'm keeping it, until I decide for sure I don't want to become a mod.

try being a mod, it gets magnified by x10. I usually ignore most PMs in my inbox then just go answer the worthwhile ones some night in the week.

under your account and appearance there is a little box that you can check to not show them.

I don't see it. :(

My Account -> Personal Info -> eHelp System: Selecting "off" disables eHelp on your account.

PM a moderator and they can demote you from Support Leader status. But why would you want to do that?

i'm tired of seeing new eHelps flashing every time I log in

  ahahahahaha

 You can turn that off...

Or better yet, go answer some!

i thought the only way to stop it was by marking all the new ones "read"

No, you can disable the whole eHelp system to get rid of it, and still remain a support leader.

Evil! It is annoying, but that's why you're an SL. Just mark them as read then.

Not doing your job are you?
