60% of english vocabulary [vocabulaire] comes from ( ancient [ancien] )french language [langage]. But learn tenses of verbs[verbes] are really painful.
On l'appelle "Old French," et non "Ancient French," en anglais. "Ancient" a le sens de quelque chose plus... ancien que "old." Besides that, c'était la langue normande et non vraiment le français qui a apporté ces mots en anglais, n'est-ce pas? |

| I find it very similar to English. It's much easier than German, for me at least. |

| Is it hard to learn French, you ask? It all depends on you and your own motivation to study it. |

It's as hard to learn french as almost any other language. Languages are really hard to learn. but french is fun. I'm learning it now and my teacher always says its a lot harder for french people to learn english.
How hard it is to learn any given language depends largely on the language(s) you already speak/are familiar with. You can't honestly believe that an English speaker would have as much difficulty learning French as they would learning Vietnamese? |

| Learning any foreign language during/after adolescence is difficult. With French at least, you'll find plenty of words in common with English (especially -tion words), the grammar isn't horribly difficult, and there's plenty of ways to get exposed to the language. |

| it's not hard, comparitively. i grew up speaking both and i'm trying to learn russian now. French and english use the same alphabet, and there aren't many sounds in the french language that are hard for an anglo to pronounce. once you've got your r's rolling and understand the spelling v. pronounciation that is sometimes confusing, you'll be well on your way. |
