Replies icaruscomplex Posted at 5:50 am on April 21, 2008 Make sure you have a well-defined ictus.  Can the band follow you?  Can the kids in the back see your pattern? The SSB is in 3/4, if I recall correctly.  Define this pattern well. Look serious.  Smile and respond at points, but if it looks like you're goofing off and don't care, you won't get chosen., xalliexcutiex Posted at 7:44 pm on April 20, 2008 You already know what you have to conduct? What about sightreading? My band gives the drum major candidates a random piece of music with several time changes and they have about 5 minutes to go over it and then they have to conduct in front of the band directors.
