The stock market crashes and unemployment is pushing 100%.

What financial tips do LW users have to survive these troubled times?

Rob a bank and smoke some green.

Likely to get you shot and just as broke.

1. Make sure you have access to clean water.
2. Stock up on honey (it never goes bad).
3. Get silver and gold as they will retain value (dollars and bank accounts, stocks and bonds will not).
4. Get firearms and ammo.
5. Hopefully you have enough land to grow food  if not find some.
6. If you can't afford land learn some skills that will make you valuable to those that have land.

Unemployment wouldn't push 100%, that's retarded.

The US Federal Reserve and the US government would never let it happen, especially not in an election year. However when times are bad history has shown that there are two safe havens for investors: gold and the US dollar. However, I wouldn't advise on buying the US dollar unless there is a global depression.

100% unemployment?

This wouldn't even be a country anymore. It would just be a huge chunk of the world map with no color or state.

300 million people would just be raving all up and down this bitch.

Get a bike. Ride it. Also get a fireplace instead of central heating. Grow your own veg.

Move to Canada or England. England would be an absolute last resort. I would never want to live there

Thanks.
But what makes you think you'd be any better off here?...We get fucked even worse while your dollar sinks.

Good point. I wonder how many deserted islands are left...

I live on a farm and am pretty much set for the revolution. I can be totally 100% off the grid within a week p;roducing all my own electricity with 30 horses, 30 pigs, sheep, cattle, buffalo, a fair arsenal, and enough land to work.

The exchange rate from U.S. dollars to pounds is 2:1.
Our money would even more worthless if we are in a depression.
You would go from living okay in the U.S. to a slave in England.

Work with others to make the world a better place where human beings are more important than money, one that is socialist.
