getting even further into possibilities, but I believe nothing should be considered false if there's a posibility... but for all we know, we were put on this earth, as tiny single cell creatures, by far more advanced beings who wanted to study evolution...you know, like we want to do with Titan
That would be pretty nifty. |

| On top of that, we can't even detect all but the largest planets yet (down to 3 times as massive as earth, and dropping quickly, but still...). Life could be one star away but we still don't know. Hell, life could be in every star system, and we're just the youngest communicating race in the universe. |

like that'll happen...we can't even treat other races properly! imagine what we'd do to an intelligent creature from an entirely different evolutionary system
Yea, because if aliens landed on earth we would pick-pocket them and call them names right? The whole world would be in too much shock to do anything really, and those who did would be trying to appease them. If they can travel between stars, they probably have some damned good weapons. as for whether or not other life exists. I say it is naive to think it doesn't. Life --as we know it-- was created on one of nine [I guess 8 now] planets of ONE star in the milky way galaxy. ONE, of 100 billion, each with their own number of planets. Then multiply that number by the number of galaxies in the universe, which is estimated at over 500 billion [though who really knows anyway, I would imagine it would be a number that large or larger, though.] To think that life only exists on ONE, of the estimated 5x10^22 would be a silly notion. To question whether that other life is intelligent, or capable of traveling between stars or even galaxies, however, at least lies in reason. edit: just to note, the Hubble space telescope estimates over 125 billion galaxies, though of course, more may obviously exist. |

why not? Because in an endless universe, it is 100% impossible for intelligent life equal, inferiour or superiour to our own, to exist?
if by endless you mean finite but lacking boundaries and thus not "infinite" in any useful "lol everything is possible!!!" kind of way, yeah |

cause people are scared morons cody, it makes me sad
you realise how idiotic that is? Something scares people so the best thing to do is wipe out all memory of it entirely? The only way fears can be faced is to realise that possibilities exist, and that they shouldn't be feared. If anything I'd PROMOTE sensible publication. People find alien synonymous with "World domination" and "destruction" Perhaps if less time was spent dwindling in fear, and more on the enourmous possibilities of such an encounter, things would be better. REGADLESS, it is stupid to wipe out such publications, because the human mind is a god in its own right. We are always creating, forming ideas and dreams, and hopes, and desires, and the most amazing splendours of imagination within our minds. To hinder the spread of such amazing creativity is to hinder human evolution. How can we create when our creations are born and left to die in our heads? |
