um, no, i think type 1 diabetes is like hereditary? so you're like born with it, but type 2 diabetes is caused from high blood sugar yeah.

Type 1 diabetes is not hereditary. Type 1 diabetes is considered to be an autoimmune disease, which means that it's a disease which results when your immune system mistakes an organ or some cells in your body as a foreign invader and begins attacking them. Basically, most type 1 diabetics' immune systems attacked the islet cells (which produce insulin) in their pancreas, thus they can no longer produce anymore insulin as a result.

There are other causes which are very rare, like some kind of odd virus or damage to one's pancreas, etc. Either way, a person is not born with type 1 diabetes - which is why you see people developing type 1 diabetes in many ages between 3 - 20. Why it stops after that is pretty much unexplained.

i put maybe but it shoulda been other some do get it from that but theres other ways too genetics play a role that stuff just increases your risk but some can be skinny and eat good and still get it. majority are fat dont mean they all are.

It has nothing to do with weight/food. It's genetics.

not type 1 they get type two
Skifox Posted at 8:17 am on May 8, 2008
No, that's type too. And you can be real skinny and have type 2, you just eat loads of sugar and you can't cope. My friend has a real high metabolism, yet he eats shit loads of chocolate and stuff, never puts on an ounce, but he has type two.

I'm skinny and I got diabetes. It's pretty weird when I am getting good nutrients and eating well to start gaining weight my sugar go high like 200+ highest over 400+. When I was in the hospital 300 was common.

yeah I'm skinny too an i got it when i was 7, lol no idea what those blood sugars are, its measured differently in the UK.
i don't get many highs, lots of lows though, been into hospital unconscious 3 times because it was too low lol

pretty much yeah, your not really born with type one, you can get it at any time, but its probably pre-determined since birth, so if your going to get it your going to no matter how healthy you are. type two can be caused by obesity and being over weight, though some people get it when they're not over weight or anything.
