| Hispanic is the race and Spanish is the language. I mean people from England are considered English and they speak English. A race can be the same name as the language. |

| I don't know that any anthropologist is technically claiming that the group of Hispanic/Latino is a race in itself, but in terms of filling out forms or applications... If I see a bubble marked "Mexican-American" I fill it in before Latino. My ancestors came from Mexico, not some general continent. Hispanics (in the definition I'm familiar with, those descended from South America or Spain) make up a large percentage of the population. Although they are not technically a race of people, they still need to be accounted for and I can't think of a more effective way to do that. |

| One could place Latino as a race, if one saw fit to do so. Humans are migratory creatures anyway. |

| hispanic and latino are different. latinos share a certain culture. hispanics share a certain tongue. brazilians are latinos but they aren't hispanics. they don't speak spanish. they speak portuguese. |

It corresponds to language.
I don't think Mexicans, Puerto Ricans and Spaniards share quite the same culture.
Wait what?
They don't. They don't even talk with the same accent, or slang.
Now we are back to you showing off how much of an idiot that you really are, and proving my previous posts. First of all, look at the USA and how the accents and slang vary between various regions. Also, come back when you learn what the hell culture encompasses.
Ok. Don't get all e-thug on me. I don't have to go anywhere. In fact I got all night. There is American culture. There are also several American subcultures. You know? Cultures WITHIN cultures. So when you're talking about different accents and practices in America you're still talking about different cultures...buddy. Oh shit lol. So yeah, I could say all the english speaking countries of the world share Anglo/English culture. Just like your saying that the Spanish countries have Hispanic culture. That doesn't mean that you can't break it up, or that hispanics are the same wherever you go. Fuck, there's HUMAN CULTURE. You're just typical...caught up in the word trap...not to mention this has nothing to do with the main point of my thread. If you want to make your own little 'culture' thread go ahead. But over here, we (and by we I mean me, the threadstarter) like to keep things on point. |

I didn't say that Hispanic Culture and all that didn't exist.. The word Hispanic belongs with Franco, Anglo and all that. Not black, white etc. That's my point in the first post. In fact, that's why WHOLE argument.
I never heard of "franco" excpet the dictator But yeah i get you point its not a race. we all agree here. but theres some common culture. and yeah its got variations. The thing is just if we compare different latino culture they got more in common with each other than with anglo culture. And forget about abs. Hes on the rag again. |

It's similar, related yes, but not the same. Some things are distinctly British, and others distinctly American.
Well the reason we feel similar in the US is because here ppl who are english or german heritage are called "anglo". So we are not anglo. |

| what you say is true for hispanic: its a group of ppl with the same language. but latino is a group of ppl with different races and background. So its NOT a "race" but it still a heritage and its NOT a language. |

They don't. They don't even talk with the same accent, or slang. it's like saying Americans and British have the same culture. It's similar, related yes, but not the same. Some things are distinctly British, and others distinctly American. Depending on how you categorize the United Kingdom and America may fall into the same category, just like if your categorizing by language, or countries that were once run by England you'll get certain groups. My beef, is cross-categorization. When people get mixed up. which i strongly believe is the case with the terms hispanic and latino. |

| I know, it isn't as if the Spanish colonized Mexico or Puerto Rico, thus introducing their culture into those lands. Next you are going to try and claim that the Anglo culture doesn't exist in Canada, Britian, New Zealand, etc. |
