Yea it was wrong of them to do that because it was 6 on 1. No im not justifying the white boy because he knew exactly what he was doing or else he wouldnt have done it. He brought that on himself. Now He wasnt too hurt and battered because he went to a ring ceremony that same night and was only in the hospital for observation for a few hours. When asked about it he said he was experiencing headaches and all that still even though the nurse said he had that problem prior to the incident. It was unfair of him to do that and they were angry that this day in age we cant even sit under the same damn tree without that happening. Now Im pissed that in this day in age we cant even get a fully fair trial. Putting nooses on tress..thats horrible. He obviously didn't think that this story would become controversial and he obviously didn't know the treacherous history of the them. I'm not trying to sound biased because of the race and the situation with the slave history and all. Nooses signify death, as in his perspective "if you sit but this tree we're going to hang you".. I think they had every right to beat him up, but I don't think they should have ganged up on ONE guy.   So here is my conclusion: Both should have gone to jail The white guy for discrimination and yes, I'm going to say for threatening people. (And assault) The six black guys , battery but give them some type of chance I mean again I think they had every right to beat him up but not gang up on him. People get jumped all the time but that town has a history of major racism. There sentence was only that way because they did that added onto the fact that they were black. There was a hate crime that happened earlier and those white students only got 3 day suspensions and satuday detentions. We fight a white boy and get trials and sentences and all that. Im not justifying them at all because that was an unfair fight...but they had everything working against them in that town. Do they really need to be tried like that? It was a school yard fight and they happen everyday. They were racially wrong basically.
