they connect you up with this machine and it pumps and oxygenates the blood, also to be clinically dead your brain has to be stopped, or not working I don't know the proper term for it but your when you have no brain activity you are clinically dead.
yes, no breathing is dead, however, you can be resuscitated if you have a little bit of brain or heart/lung or any function like that.

As the OP indirectly acknowledged, the medical definition for death has been changed. If your heart and breathing stops, you are no longer technically considered dead. It is only after brain activity ceases that you are now medically considered to have died.
