Stop saying "don't label me." Stop complaing that you're unique, that you don't fit into a peghole.

No one cares. Everyone labels everyone. We look at people, and we generalize. Because a lot of the time, it's right. All this bullshit about uniqueness has convinced us that labels are of the devil. They're not. Nine out of ten times, the kid with spiked hair, Left-Over Crack patches, and punk clothes is fine with drugs and leans to the left pretty hard politically. Sure, there are punk looking kids that don't fit that category. But not enough to stop categorizing. After all, what's the worst that happens? You assume that the person is something that they're not, and either they prove you wrong or they don't, in which case they probably don't deserve to be recognized as unique.

If you want to be seen as unique, act unique. People are going to immediately categorize you, because that's how our minds and society fucking work. If you don't like being put in a peghole, do something to set yourself aside from it, douche. Don't just tell people not to do what's natural and proper.

That is true in many cases. Even if you claim you aren't one label, you fit into another.

I agree - I'm so sick of people whining about stereotypes. For fucks sake, they're a universal, convenient way of describing people - what is so wrong about that?
Big Red Posted at 1:23 am on April 17, 2006

ConservativeKat Posted at 5:02 pm on April 16, 2006
I don't care about labels period. People should know who they are, and not care about what everyone else says or thinks
samantha123 Posted at 12:59 pm on April 16, 2006
I think we all need to stop saying "stop labeling him/her" because your voice means NOTHING, ZIP, NATTA, ZERO anymore! People are STILL going to label each other, and are STILL going to continue doing what they have always been doing. Just learn to accept it and shut your pieholes already, because only you know what is true and what isn't true, and that is all that counts.

everyone does it but that doesn't make it alright. all labels do is make people stereotype and what good has that ever done?

It saves lives every day. Because of steriotyping, people don't walk by that alley full of sketchy looking guys in their early 20's in gang colors. They stay away from people wandering the streets that look like heroin junkies. If a creepy looking guy in a white van pulls over next to you when you're walking around at night and asks if you want to see the puppies he's delivering or have some candy, your steriotype him as a kidnapper/ child molester and leave.

B... b... but when you label me it takes my individuality away.

*prances off to get razors*

Right on, sister!

I don't really fit into a peghole, though. Meh. I'm just bland.

kitkat Posted at 4:29 am on April 16, 2006
labelling isn't a good thing. yeah, everyone does it but that doesn't make it alright. all labels do is make people stereotype and what good has that ever done?

I agree with Wilder, if you don't like being labeled, stop paying attention.
