I'm doing more and more paintings on photoshop (a new one is in my IB), but I've noticed that as a sketcher by nature, the results tend to be a bit scribbly. But it's OK, I like that sort of thing. I can appreciate modern art, so long as it has a point.

What's your favourite type of art? OUT OF THESE TWO.
One that is detailed, beautiful and often made of oil, but often doesn't have a real message...
OR
One that is messy and could've done yourself, but with an inspiration or thought behind it.

I like pretty things with meanings. I don't think of scribbles and blotches of paint as something extremely valuable (yeahyeah, I'm sorry, but I don't like abstract).

Messy, but within reason.  I am a very sketchy artist and though I can do realism and appreciate the realistic work of others, I'm just more drawn to the sketchy wild pieces.

I like both but the thing is there is hidden symbolism in a lot of that art that you would describe as very detailed and meaningless. Just not many people look into it.

I would have to go with the second one because I personally like having a meaning behind my work but I think there is a time and place for both sides.

Jackson Pollock is probably my favourite artist

KeiraOasis Posted at 11:32 am on June 8, 2008
What about neat ones that DO have meaning behind it?

Personally i love the abstract stuff with many possible meanings behind it.

more detailed with oil pastel, do u know how hard it is to work with oil pastel?!?!?!?!

I think paintings should have a strong mesage within them. Rather then just something pretty.
I think that if you waste so much time thinking about your next art piece it should be one that has a powerful message. rather then something that people glance at. make them think about it.

I really don't care much for art. But If I had to choose it'd prolly be the latter.

im a figure draw artist and i like to draw more than to paint or anything else that ppl do in art.
EventerChick Posted at 11:29 am on June 8, 2008
I like both.
It sorta depends on my mood though.
Aqua Lily Posted at 11:28 am on June 8, 2008
it doesn't depend on that, it depends on the actual art, if it looks good, if it has a good meaning... to be honest i like both in the same painting. but its best if its fairly unique

The second one...

I love seeing a painting that makes me think. Basically, has a strong point/message.
