my lady.. in practice, usually no infection occurs from a 1 brief sex.. it is a disease of sexually active women who sleep daily with a different member ..

so mostly u wouldnt get it.. but have it as a lesson not to play the risk again..

I have to disagree. Viruses don't judge and they can be transmitted with one sexual act....it's like saying you can't get pregnant the first time.

I also forgot to add earlier that while a condom will lower the risks of getting Herpes, it does not - even if it stays intact - fully protect people from herpes, or HPV either, simply because IF (in Herpes, aka HSV, case) viral shedding can occur on parts of the skin not protected by a condom.

First, calm down. It's a mistake you may or may not have to "pay for". The virus - if you contracted it - doesn't care one way or another, so you have to deal with reality.

Here's a page of info on Herpes. http://www.smart2ask.org/popups/Herpes.htm
You should also be concerned about other *possible* STDs that are detectable easily or immediately. And yes, HPV is a different - and very common virus- but you need to be concerned about both. You should also, just for your peace of mind, get an HIV test in 3 months, and to be 100% sure, in 6 months. Or just wait the 6 months. I'm not suggesting you are at any higher risk of HIV but it's a disease that symptoms don't appear for, usually, about 10 years after exposure. So it's best to be certain.

http://www.smart2ask.org/STD.htm has info on several common STDs. Best of luck.

Thankyou...I pray to god I don't, well the only person I'll be having sex with is my boyfriend but I won't now until I find out....I hope I don't....It was the first time I've ever been so stupid...

the genital herpes is caused by Herpes simplex virus HSV mostly type 2 ..

the lesions appear in 2 days to 2 weeks.. so count..

but in about 50% of infected people there will be no lesions but they continue shedding the virus sexually..

there are several tests and treatements which lessens the dration and degree of the symptoms..
my advice is to go to skin sp.( dermatologist).. and to aviod sex until u be sure so not to trasnmit the infection if there.

i hope no infection there ..goodluck:)

I dont think we on Livewire can really tell you whether you have them or not. I mean, obviously what you did was stupid but the most I can say is I hope you dont have them. Good luck xo
