In the introduction to the 25th Anniversary Edition of her book, Women and Madness, Phyliss Chesler, M.D.  writes:

We now understand that women and men are not "crazy" or "defective"when, in response to trauma, they develop post traumatic symptoms, including insomnia, flashbacks, phobias, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, dissociation, a numbed toughness, amnesia, shame, guilt, self-loathing, self-mutilation, and social withdrawal.

I can't go to a psychiatrist or anything. Be serious please. How do I fix myself?

I think you need to clearly discern what caused you to become that way. If you think a self help book would help you get to that point, then go for it. But ultimately it just takes time and honest effort, and a willingness to change your mindset and views if something turns out to be different than you expected. Then you need to develop the confidence to deal with the roots of these problems. Time is also a factor, though. Sometimes, even if you have found the reason and are ready to get over it, things remain for awhile. But try not to worry about that, because if you get to the root of the problem, it should fade after awhile, if not go away completely.

why cant you go to a psychiatrist?

I can't ask my parents and they aren't the type of people that would take me anyway.

i would just tell them about your trauma

When I told my parents about my cutting they were very supportive but refused to take me to the doctor because it would be written down

im going to 2 psychiatrists. it just alot of stuff to deal with and i deal with it constantly and cant really do anything about it. i have tried self help books. it kinda hard to help your self when your self is screwed.

if that was the same anon that started this than seriously whats going on b.c. maybe i can help a little.

Are you going to a psychiatrist? Do you think a self-help book would help?
