A few months ago I found out that my girlfriend was raped. I can't understand how someone could violate her like that. It happened a few years ago, she's only told me.
I know it's affected her and I don't know how to support her. Should I feel guilty for finding it difficult to cope with?

that sux....but that means she trusts you

She does, and I love her, so I'm just dying to do something to make her feel better. I just don't know what.

just be there for her, and let her know that for anything you'll be there. thats a tragic thing to be able to tell someone i know.

She probably went through hell to tell me, I'm gonna do my best for her, she deserves it. She is quite possibly the most wonderful person on the planet and that's why she doesn't deserve this, ya know?

yep see you'll do just fine

Did she not report it when it happened?
Just be there to support her when she needs it.
In my experience, pressuring people when they just want to leave things be actually makes the stress of it worse.

Cuddle her and make her feel safe, that will really help her to get over it herself and move on, which in turn will help you to.

I cuddle her all the time, I tell her she's beautiful, I can see I'm undoing some of the damage.

It hurts just knowing that someone could be so vile.

I haven't pressured her into going to the police but I haven't been able to stop myself from saying how I wish him dead

It happened to her a few years ago, she didn't report it because she thought no one would believe her. I'm there for her but I end up crying more than she does. There's been rumours going around that he has done this more than once, at least three of his exes appear to be damaged. I just want her to be happy.

if you ever find out who it is report him. then she wont have to be scared. he'll be in prison for life hopefully
Nope. Its way to far past the fact. She should have reported it sooner. Now they cant do anything. Besides, he wont get life for rape, but he will get his in prison

She sees the guy around town, I want to kill him but she won't tell me who he is. Probably because she knows just how bad I'd hurt him
angel08 Posted at 11:43 am on Nov. 26, 2008

switchfoott052 Posted at 11:43 am on Nov. 26, 2008
it would be difficult for anyone to cope with. just be there for her and make sure she gets help when she needs it like a counsellor
