I'm nearly 17 and never even tried for my driving permit while everyone else has at my age. I've never had one job interview either and a while ago, I didn't want to ever grow up or get a job. But now I've moved on from that. All the other girls at school have after-school jobs (not after-school clubs and activities, those are for 6th-graders) and I feel totally left-out! I live with mental disabilities that affect my life and communication skills, so that definitely makes it harder. I've told my dad how I feel about this and he almost always says I'm not ready for that stuff yet. I don't fucking care what he thinks, he always puts me down and says I have the maturity of a 6-year-old child! Sorry if I'm whining too much, I guess I cannot help it. I just really want to grow up and stop living in the past. I'm sick of being told I'm not ready to start for my driving permit or get a job that interests me. This makes no sense to me, my dad's also telling me I have to give new things a try and I can do anything I'd like if I keep trying. I feel like a retarded kindergarten student   Please help thanxx
