hes just out of his teens and hes always seemed fine on the surface but as i got to know him i learnt he gets depressed and hes attempted suicide a few times. hes also mentioned hearing a voice inside its head, they're probably his own thoughts but obviously he doesnt have control of them so he thinks its someone talking to him.. and he says those thoughts can take over. he turned up at my house last night almost spaced out, he wasn't coherant and said he needed help. he'd cut his hands and face and was saying he didnt care about anything anymore. he sat there emulating the ticking of my clock and looking at the shadows on the wall and analyizing the patterns in the carpet. when i asked him what was wrong he said he was fine, i said you said earlier you needed help he replied oh that was him being silly then he started saying he had to go somewhere because someone had been a jerk to him so he was gona sort them out (he has intense anger problems too) he just seemed to be running through jumbled thought trains out loud and talking to himself. e.g he used a old fashioned word then went 'you're a freak.. why would you say that'

does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with him? my mum has mental illness but shes on medication and ive never seen her in an 'unwell' state so i really dont know what to make of him :/

Could be something wrong with him, but since I'm more suspicious of people, he's probably just looking for attention. It sounds like he's throwing together every psychological symptom he knows to every psychological disorder he's heard of. Doesn't sound much like an actual disorder, at least not that I'm aware of.
