The comedian  Bernie Mac  died early Saturday morning at the age of 50. The Chicago Sun-Times first reported his death, which was later confirmed by CNN and the Associated Press.

Although the cause of death was not disclosed, the comedian, whose real name was Bernard McCullough, had been hospitalized recently for pneumonia. He had suffered from sarcoidosis, a respiratory disease, since the 1980's.

A columnist for the Sun-Times, Stella Foster, said that a close friend of the family confirmed his death. Mr. Mac starred in the Fox television series "The Bernie Mac Show,'' and his film credits include roles in the "Ocean's Eleven" series of movies.

That came as a bit of a shock, since his representatives were bad mouthing people just the other day for saying his situation was critical. Something tells me that there is more to this story than we've been told. I think that pneumonia is going to be shown to be a cover illness.

Jesus. Kinda hard to get my head around that he's actually dead o.O I remember seeing him in Guess Who and, of course, Oceans' series.

This shocked the hell out of me because the last I heard, he was doing fine.

R.I.P Bernie Mac :(

Maybe we should start looking into cures for pneumonia.

That's so sad.  I saw him in person once, he seemed like a really nice guy. He was so young too. :[ This year has been rough with actor's deaths.

Pneumonia is a killer.  That's how my Mom died too.  I think she could have been helped more so she would have lived though.

I didn't know he was that old.  It's sad he is dead.
