So here's the question:
If your son was playing with what's considered a girls toy or if your daughter was playing with what's considered a boys toy, would you be upset and how would you react?
My father...flips the fuck out on my brother for playing with girly things and wanting to do girly things. I think it's dumb of him. (my father that is)
I think by a certain age boys should tend to boys toys and girls to girls toys, but while they're young I can't see a problem, as long as they're entertained and quiet, but when they start developing their personality, you know when they start going to pre-school and walking talking making decisions any sign of a personality then I would start opting for them to be associating themselves with the gender-typed toys
But if they didn't want to then I would be ok with that, I wouldn't mind if they turned out whatever sexuality but yeah just my opinion
My cousin is 5 and she is obsessed with trains. Seriously, every question you ask her you always get an answer related to trains "What did you do at school today?" - " I drew a picture of a train" I asked her once if she preferred trains or her daddy and she said trains. In her bedroom she has a massive train set and at 5 she already knows whether a train is a diesel or not just by looking at it.

I think that's really neat

I don't think its really out of the ordinary for a girl to play with toys typically associated with boys. Look at it this way, girls can pretty much wear any clothes guys wear. However, its not socially accepted for a guy to wear a dress. I figure, same applies to toys. As for boys playing with girl toys, I think thats a little odd, but I wouldn't disown him for it. At most I'd try and passively discourage. I totally agree with you. The clothes thing is something I can associate with. My little brother likes dressing up in girl clothes at age 13, that bothers my father A LOT. Hmmm, thats a little weird, but not something I'd like hate him for. There is this guy at my school who dresses up in girls clothes. Not like bras and dresses, just girly T-shirts and such. I have since found out he is gay, but hey, their choice. If it were my kid I'd love him/her nonetheless, but then maybe its different if you are actually a parent having to deal with these issues.

It is weird in a sense, because it's not just casual girl clothes, it's like skirts and what ever. I just figured if my dad really wanted to talk to him about it, he could do it a lot more maturely instead of screaming at him.
Your dad is very old fashion like the dad in Chuck and Larry, he has to understand that his unconscious thought that if his son plays with girl toys that his son isnt gay ,and vise versa for a girl playing with boy toys-all she gets called is a tom boy..nothing wrong with that, and the world should opn up to kids being a new generation where society is putting in the idea that there is no more gender or race..ppl are ppl and i like that idea...other then when ppl are crazyyy
I totally understand that, I just think he's crazy
A toy is a toy...but I would be the one buying guy toys to him/ girl toys to her...so I wouldn't know where they got the opposite gender toy :/
At a friends house? From a birthday party? As a Christmas gift? In a daycare center?
